What is Tongits Go and how does it work?
Tongits Go is originally a popular Filipino card game played among three players using a full deck of 52 cards. The goal is to reduce the total value of cards in your hand to zero, or to finish the game with fewer points than your opponents.
In JILI's digital version, the game is even more straightforward and engaging. Players can draw and discard cards, form sets and runs, and win by declaring "Tongits" at the right moment.
- A 52-card deck is dealt among three players.
- The dealer receives 13 cards and others receive 12 cards each.
- On each turn, draw one card and discard one.
- Form sets (same rank, different suits) or runs (same suit, consecutive ranks).
- When all cards in your hand are used up, declare "Tongits!" to win.
- When the deck runs out, the player with the fewest points wins.
Strategy and tips for winning at Tongits Go
Tongits is not just a game of luck — the right strategy and focus can significantly improve your chances of winning. Below is advice from experienced players at mjl99.
Discard high-point cards early
Get rid of high-value cards like 10, J, Q and K quickly — they become a burden if they don't fit into a set.
Watch your opponents' moves
Keep track of which cards others are drawing and discarding — this gives you a sense of what they have in hand.
Use the "Sapaw" strategy
Add your extra cards to an opponent's formed set — this is an effective way to reduce the points in your hand.
"Fight" at the right time
When someone calls Tongits, you can challenge with "Fight" — this is worthwhile if you have fewer points.
Expert tip: Patience and focus are your greatest assets in Tongits Go. Take each step thoughtfully rather than rushing. Start with small bets at mjl99 and refine your strategy as you gain experience.
